What is the average economic impact of Super Bowl?
The economic impact of a Super Bowl in a host community is reported to be more than $350 million.

How many visitors will come to South Florida for Super Bowl XLI?
It is estimated that approximately 120,000 visitors will converge on the Super Bowl host city. Dolphin Stadium is anticipated to have a Super Bowl capacity of 75,000. Past host cities and the NFL estimates indicate that a minimum of 40,000 non-game ticket holders visit Super Bowl cities each year to be a part of the festivities.

Who is the typical Super Bowl attendee and what is the typical length of stay?
The average Super Bowl attendee spends four nights in a hotel. Of the attendees, 85% are from another state, 70 - 90 percent arrive by plane, and the average fan spends $1,500 - 2,000 during his/her stay.

       Of these visitors:

  • 60 percent classify their occupation as managerial or professional.
  • 53 percent earn at least $75,000 a year.
  • 38 percent earn more than $100,000.
  • 56 percent are key decision-makers in their company.
  • 60 percent of the above key decision-makers work at companies who host meetings outside of their corporate headquarters.
  • 70 percent of these decisions-makers would consider holding a meeting in the Host City after visiting because of the positive Super Bowl Experience.
  • 20 percent would consider expanding their present operations in the Host City area.
  • 29 percent would consider establishing business operations in the Host City area.

VOLUNTEER

How can I volunteer for Super Bowl XLI?
The Host Committee estimates that it will need more than 8,000 volunteers to serve in various capacities. These volunteers will be needed in many areas (hospitality, transportation, special events, etc.) Click here to apply.

Will I have a better chance at becoming a volunteer if I sign up sooner than someone else?
Yes. We expect volunteer positions to fill very quickly. Please sign up as soon as possible to ensure your spot as a Super Bowl XLI Volunteer.

Do I have to fill out a volunteer application?
All volunteers must complete the official South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee volunteer application. An online application is available at www.superbowlxli.org, click here to apply.

How many volunteers are needed?
The South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee's bid obligation to the National Football League (NFL) is to recruit, schedule and train 8,200, volunteers for all Super Bowl-related activities.

What types of volunteer opportunities are there?

  • NFL Experience Ambassadors
    Ambassadors will assist with the management and supervision of interactive football games and displays. Included in this family oriented theme park of activities are autograph signings, player and coach radio and TV interviews, entertainment and food.
  • Airport and Hotel Ambassadors
    Ambassadors will provide a sunny, enthusiastic welcome to guests via friendly smiles and warm handshakes at one of the aforementioned venues. Ambassadors will also communicate game, event, transportation and hospitality information to visitors, plus distribute approved Host Committee publications.
  • Transportation Ambassadors
    Ambassadors will direct guests to appropriate shuttles and check credentials as NFL guests board shuttles. Ambassadors may also be asked to ride on the shuttles to assist drivers with directions and greet NFL staff or sponsors.
  • Command Center (Volunteer Headquarters) Ambassadors
    Ambassadors will respond to questions from the volunteer hotline, call volunteers regarding their shifts, cancel volunteer shifts and distribute volunteer materials (i.e. schedule, handbook and uniform). Other administrative duties will be performed (i.e. typing, filing and faxing).
  • Office Operation Ambassadors
    Ambassadors will perform general office duties (i.e. answering phones, faxing, copying, entering volunteer applications and calling other ambassadors to verify application and scheduling information). Shifts are available between January 2006 and February 2007.

Is there an age requirement?
All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age by November of 2006. A valid drivers license or state identification may be used as proof of age. Volunteers must agree to a background check required by the NFL. Volunteer opportunities will be provided on an equal basis without regard to age, sex, race, religion or disability.

How many shifts do I have to work?
Volunteers must be available to work a minimum of two 4-hour shifts.

What type of training is provided to a volunteer?
All volunteers will be required to attend at least one information session and at least one training session pertaining to the event(s) for which they are assigned to. The information and training sessions will take place in the evening and/or on the weekend. Additionally, all volunteers are required to attend the general volunteer orientation in January of 2007.

What if a volunteer cannot attend their assigned event?
Volunteers will be given a schedule indicating where and when they are to report to their assignments. It is important that volunteers keep their assignments, but if a volunteer must cancel due to illness or family, please contact Super Bowl Host Committee Command Center at (305) 626-7341 to cancel the shift. A Command Center has been established to help coordinate schedules and serve as a clearinghouse in filling vacated slots at various venues.

What if a volunteer does not have a way to get to their assignment?
All volunteers are required to have reliable transportation.

If I volunteer, is there a chance that I will get Super Bowl tickets?
There are NO Super Bowl tickets available to volunteers. As a result volunteers will have the opportunity to experience the Super Bowl through the events prior and during the game.

Can I volunteer to work inside the stadium during Super Bowl XLI?
There are no volunteers placed by the NFL on game day inside Dolphin Stadium.

How does a person without a computer apply to be a volunteer?
Contact the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee for more information on where hard copies of the application are available.

I don't have an email address, what do I do?
You can create a free email account at Yahoo. Or the Host Committee will mail volunteer material (schedule and training information) to you.

Do I have to pay for a volunteer uniform?
Volunteers will receive a complimentary Host Committee uniform.

Where will volunteers park?
The Host Committee will provide complimentary parking for all volunteers. Each volunteer assignment will have a specific parking location. Parking information will be provided during the volunteer information and training sessions.

Will food and beverages be provided for volunteers?
Volunteers will receive snacks and beverages at specific volunteer assignments. Volunteers working more than six hours will receive a light meal and beverages.

Can I bring family members or friends with me to my shift?
No family members or friends are allowed while volunteers are on duty, unless they are scheduled to work at the same time.

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION

How many rooms were required to host Super Bowl XLI?
As part of its bid to the NFL, the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee secured 17,500 hotel rooms.

How can I book a room for Super Bowl XLI?

How does the Host Committee keep hotels from overcharging Super Bowl visitors?
Each participating hotel has signed an anti-gouging agreement and has agreed not to charge more than their highest published rate (rack rate).

TEAMS AND TICKETS

What are the practice sites for the two participating teams?
AFC - Miami Dolphins Training Facility (Nova Southeastern University).
NFC - University of Miami (Coral Gables)

How are game tickets distributed?
The vast majority of Super Bowl tickets (approximately 75%) are distributed to the 32 NFL teams. The participating teams each receive 17.5% of the tickets, the non-participating teams receive 1.2% and the Miami Dolphins, as the host team, will receive 5%. The remaining 25.2% are controlled by the NFL and are distributed primarily to NFL affiliated companies (NFL Properties, NFL Films, NFL Players Association, etc.) the broadcast network, corporate sponsors, media, VIP's charities, fans and the Host Committee.

Are tickets sold to the general public?
The NFL distributes approximately 1% of the tickets to fans through an annual Super Bowl random drawing. The drawing is not considered a lottery (there is no charge to enter). This is the NFL's only method of distributing tickets to the general public.

Requests for the random drawing are accepted between February 1st and June 1st of each year, preceding the game. For Super Bowl XLI the drawing will be in 2006. There are no complimentary tickets available. Click here for more information.

How much are the Super Bowl tickets?
Typically set by NFL owners in early fall, ticket prices for Super Bowl XL were $600 for most seats and $700 for club seats.

What is Super Bowl XLI?
Super Bowl XLI is a professional football championship game conducted by the National Football League. Participants include the champions of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC) of the National Football League. The winning team wins the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

February 4, 2007 at 6 p.m. (EST)

Has a host city team ever played in the Super Bowl in their home stadium?

MEDIA

How many media professionals attend the Super Bowl?
More than 3,500 working media will attend Super Bowl XLI with at least 400 of those attendees being international journalists. The South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee will plan special events for all visiting media and another event developed especially for international media the week before the game.

When are the teams available for media interviews?
During the week prior to the game, the NFL will host Media/Photo Day with the two participating teams inside of Dolphin Stadium. The NFL issues credentials for media access.

What kinds of events are held in conjunction with the Super Bowl?
There are a multitude of ancillary events that take place during Super Bowl week to ensure that residents and visitors can fully enjoy the festivities regardless of whether they have a game ticket or not. Click here for a complete list of official events.
